This is our wonderful, 4year old, Steve. Steve now has been with us for 189 days! He came to us so shut down and was so sacred he would hide away in his hidey bed. Over the months Steve has come on so much and has been in foster for a few months now and has come on so much more since being there.
Steve has had some issues with his skin and we have found a medication that helps him maintain a healthy coat and not feel too itchy, this will need to be continued by his new family.
Surprisingly Steve has not been bothered by any fireworks or thunder and seems unphased by this, which is wonderful considering he does have some nervousness in his character.
Steve still finds new situations, people and places scary and will become nervous again. He doesn't like being restrained for handling and will try to get away because he worries but all in all he is the sweetest baby and I feel so very blessed to have been able to know him.
Steve would be best suited to a quieter home to help him settle during his initial nerves and he is likely to benefit from a smaller household and possibly more likely to take to females. He should be the only pet in the home as this will help with predictability and children 14+ that understand he needs time and a calm environment.
Few words form Steves lovely Foster;
Steve has settled very well in the foster home. His confidence has grown beautifully and he has found his favourite things;
- Steve seems to be a one human cat, leaving the other human in the home to be his spare human. He shows love and affection more towards one person and becomes their shadow. He has become so comfortable that he happily jumps on shoulders for head bumps or to use you as leverage to get onto something else
- He loves the double bed, his bed behind the TV on the window ledge. he will either be cuddled up in bed behind the TV, playing with his toys or led on the carpet watching TV. He will come over for strokes and to walk across our lap for fuss for short periods, then he goes to do his own thing. He will follow me everywhere and is my little shadow. He has even started to jump onto my shoulders for a head bump then he will jump onto something else from my shoulders. He even lets me pick him up for a short cuddle but I probably like this more than Steve does
- He loves to adventure and is certainly getting eager to go outside, he is always climbing and jumping from item to item. He loves playing with tap water and often races me to the bathroom sink in the morning for me to turn the tap on for him. He bops his paws at the water and flicks the water around.
- He still loves chomping on plastic, cheeky quirk of his.
