Introducing you to our lovely boy Onyx, he is our 1-and-a-half-year-old Whippet Cross.

Onyx came to us after being removed from his previous home due to neglect, this boy was extremely emaciated but is far from that now, he is now looking brilliant.

When Onyx arrived, he was a very nervous boy who struggled to settle in at first but has since made some very good friends with the team, it didn’t take him long especially with the help of another friend (squeezy cheese)

Onyx is a young bouncy energetic young dog once he has become comfortable in his surroundings. He is still a little nervous and lacks confidence venturing into new places, and still needs some work building up his confidence, so he needs a family who have plenty of time, patience and a little bit of experience with this kind of thing.

Onyx knows basic commands and will need some lead work as he can be a bit frantic if he is unsure of where he is going. He is currently working on his loose lead walking and focus work with his handler. He is doing amazingly!! Especially with sausage or squeezy cheese around.

Playful? Yes, this boy LOVES a toy, especially if it’s a tennis ball or even better a squeaky tennis ball, he cant get enough of play time, he is definitely a character and going to make a family very happy and very much entertained with his shenanigans.

Onyx has done two dog meets at the centre and met dogs out and about, but he can get vocal with excitement when he sees dogs and we are working on teaching him how to approach dogs calmly and in a polite manner. He has been a bit too enthusiastic in his greetings with our quieter dogs, but with experience and the help of more well socialised dogs we think he will be an amazing friend, he is currently doing brilliantly with this.

Onyx is looking for a home as the only pet but can live with children 14+, He needs a family who are going to be patient and have plenty of time to help him build his confidence and teach him the big open world isn’t so scary.
