Meet our chatty 1-year-old Tabby male, Spud!

Spud came into our care a little nervous, he had a bit of a stressful journey to us and was unsure at first to show us trust. After just a couple of days, though, Spud showed us his true self and now is a talkative and confident cat who loves a good head scratch.

He is still a little nervous of strangers but as long as the interaction is slow and at his own pace, he warms up in no time and will come up to you for attention. Spud prefers a stroke to the head rather than his whole body but is always up for the interaction and will follow you around for more! He can be a little pushy when it comes to strokes, and sometimes gets a little too excited. Calm interaction with him is definitely the way to go.

Spud is a very good boy when being picked up, he stays still and likes a scratch behind the ear while you do it. He does wriggle away after a minute so picking him up should be done within his boundaries but it could be something he enjoys with the right person.

Spud seems to be a little unsure of toys at the moment, he doesn't show much interest in them in his pod and will run in the opposite direction if you throw one for him.

Spud has been an indoor only cat previously, but we are sure that with a slow and safe introduction to the outside world he will love to explore it all. Here in the cattery, he has access to an outside run area and he has no issue with going out there to use his litter trays and see the goings on in the outside world. He would benefit from having lots of hidey spaces in the garden such as plant pots so he can use these as a safe and comfortable hidey area or escape, whilst he gets used to it.

Spud can use his cat flap and outdoor litter trays perfectly.

Spud's experience with other cats is limited, but so far he seems calm and comfortable around them, but perhaps overly confident around other cats and can be a bit forward; therefore we recommend Spud would be best suited for a home with children aged 16+ where he can be the only pet in the home.
