Meet Delilah, our 1-year-old all-black domestic shorthair. We don’t have much history on this little girl but in the short time she’s been with us, she has shown what a sweetheart she is. Despite showing some fear reactions during her stay at the animal hospital, since moving to the cattery she hasn’t put a paw out of place and seems to be feeling much happier.

Delilah is likely to be shy initially, when in a new place or meeting new people… but she quickly warms to you if you offer a hand or treat. Once she knows you, if she sees you approach, she will get straight up and come to see you! She leans into the fuss, purring away, and she also enjoys being brushed. You can pick up and hold Delilah for a short time and she will let you know when she wants to get down. Over time, with patience, we think she could become quite cuddly.

In her pod, Delilah spends most of the day in bed relaxing and keeping an eye on things, we haven’t seen her playing much of her own accord but she will play with toys when encouraged.

Delilah hasn’t met many cats here at the centre yet as she is still building her confidence out in the cattery but she does show an interest in making friends so could potentially live with another cat in the future. But for now, we’d say Delilah should be an only pet until fully settled and feeling confident in her new home. We don’t think Delilah would like to live with a dog.

Delilah knows how to use her cat flap and litter trays. Delilah could live with children ages 14 and over.
