Pets Needing New Homes

RSPCA Preston Branch Pets Needing New Homes

Special Appeals

Unfortunately for different reasons, some of our residents take slightly longer to find their "forever home" - sometimes due to age, or special requirements, or sadly even the fact that they might not be the prettiest looking pet in some people's eyes! The animals below desperately need your help to find their loving new homes, so if you can give one of these animals a home please get in touch.

Troy
Mastiff
Brindle
Approx 2-3 years

Troy is our biggest boy here at the centre and unfortunately sometimes his size goes against him. This powerful boy has a long way to go with his training but his progress is phenominal. He is one of our long stay dogs at present and is so desperate for a loving calm home.

Please offer this beautiful big boy and his big personality the leadership he needs.

I now also have my own facebook page, please follow me on Facebook!! http://www.facebook.com/update_security_info.php?wizard=1#!/pages/Troy/107280936040839

TROY HAS NOW BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE SHEFFIELD BRANCH OF THE RSPCA

Dixie
SBT
5 Yrs old

Dixie was brought to the Centre by one of our Animal Welfare Officers. This beautiful boy has had such a poor start in life, his previous owners kept him tied to the radiator. For this little boy such a warm place soon became a very cold one, his movement was restricted, playing was not possible and he recieved little interaction from those that were suppose to love him the most.

Dixie had received no training and therfore his knowledge of basic commands was very limited, he struggled to interact and was easily distracted but you wouldn't expect anything else from a boy who experiences of day to day life have been so limited. Dixie is now on our behavioural programme and making slow but good progress, he struggles with the kennel environment and is desperate for a loving home.

Dixie will need a lot of time and attention spending on him, as he will be quite demanding. It is recommended that he is rehomed to a family where the children are 10 years + where he would only be left between 1-2 hours initially and where the fence in the garden would be over 6 feet. Weekly training classes are essential and Dixie will need a minimum of two 30 minute walks per day. It is possible that Dixie could be rehomed with both dogs and cats (ideally with a confident cat that could tell him off!) Dixie loves playing and running with other dogs, he is very friendly towards them and enjoys their company. Dixie will make a lovely loyal companion for most families who are willing to train him.

Barney
Greyhound Cross
Approx 2 years

Barney was brought back to the centre as unfortunately his owners circumstances had changed and they could no longer care for him. Poor Barney is terribly stressed in this environment and although the staff desperately try to elleviate the stress with regular walks and stimulating toys this is only for short periods of time. Having spent a lot of time in reception lately it is clear to see that Barney is desperate for human interaction, he loves to be stroked and just wants to curl up with you on the chair or in your arms. This adorable big boy has lots of love to give and is looking for someone to love him back!
