Welcome to the RSPCA Preston & District Branch

support centre

Please continue to support our centre! Here at the Preston Branch we are very grateful for all the support you have given us over these difficult few months. The centre has managed to remain open and so continues its good work in animal welfare. We have a long road ahead and sadly we have had to reduce the number of dogs we can rescue, but with your continued support we are hopeful for the future. We are very much aware that we are one of a few rescue centres available for animals in the Preston city and the surrounding areas so your continued support is urgently required. Your food contributions have been an enormous help but the animals need toys and one of our biggest expenditure is the much prefered woodbase cat litter, if you are able to contribute either of these items.

It is of course most appreciated if you could continue to support us financially, this will gives us the means to continue to give the animals a comfortable, loving home whilst in our care

Adopt An Animal Preston Animal CentreRSPCA Preston & District Branch is a separate Registered Charity. We get no funding from the national society, the Government or other sources. We rely on the generosity of the local people. It currently costs over £400,000 anually to run the Animal Centre. We are licensed to hold dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals.

We take in stray dogs from the Council, unwanted animals from the public and cruelty cases from the Inspectorate. We have a non-destruction policy, unless the animal is extremely sick or dangerous and cannot be rehomed. Our main goal is to take in unwanted animals and find them new permanent loving homes; this is sometimes very difficult as they may already have behavioural problems, but we work very hard to address these before the animals leave us. Please remember it takes time for any animal to settle in to its new home, so please be patient. If you have any questions regarding your adopted pet or need additional advice please ring us. We will always try to help.

foster

The majority of animals that come to the centre spend their time in the kennels or cattery, but some special cases need the extra care and attention of a one-to-one foster home. We are looking for fosterers to give a temporary home to a cat or dog for various reasons; they may have just had an operation and need quiet rest to recover, mothers with new-born kittens/pups, or especially animals that are very stressed being in an animal centre environment and not coping well. Potential Fosterers will have a home visit and be supported by the Centre. Food is paid for and provided by the Centre and a free vet service is also provided.

Fostering is only temporary but is still a big commitment, if you think you could offer a foster home to an animal in need please contact the centre!
